New Orleans Gallery

This is newly formed levee or "batture" with no streets or squares for houses arranged as yet.  This is why there was never a street address for the early orphanage,
St. Patrick's Orphan Asylum, that Margaret convinced Judge Kennedy to offer to the nuns, rent-free, a reputedly haunted house he owned,
"The Withers", in the Second Municipality, on the batture.

St. Charles Hotel, in 1838, where Margaret worked in the laundry.
